Pythagoras, Copernicus, Galileo, + Newton
Without these thinkers challenging the conventional wisdom of the time, we would likely still believe the earth was flat, that we were the centre of our universe (some of us haven't quite transitioned into this awareness), the apple fell on our head because someone had thrown it from the tree and that fossils have been planted to fool us.
Being an unconventional thinker in these times came with risks that far outweighed the ridicule that todays genre of naysayers (aka Glenn Beck et al) like to dish out: Galileo burned at the stake for his unconventional thought. So this crew really deserves a toast -- raise your glass + stick to your guns.
